Sounds of the Month April ’21 Is All About Women Artists

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you know that the month of March was Women’s History Month, and International Women’s Day was globally celebrated on 8 March. Like the record-setting Grammy award-winner Beyoncé said, women run the world and we couldn’t agree more. It is with this same energy that we’re moving into April, which is why our playlist for this month is all about amazing women artists and their music.

As the weather finally transitions from winter into spring, we’re looking to strong female energy to take us into the new season. We’re listening to bouncy pop hits from the likes of Rihanna and Lizzo, while the sultry tunes of Snoh Aalegra and H.E.R look set to usher in the fresh wave of R&B that we have all been waiting for.

We are not over our obsession with Afrobeats, either. The African music genre is usually dominated by male musicians such as Davido, Burna Boy and Rema, but acts such as Nigerian singer Simi and Ghanaian artist Gyakie are proving that women can more than hold their own in the industry.
