The Folklore's Sounds of The Month - May '20

Spring has finally ushered in higher temperatures and more sunshine, and while some regions are still under a stay-at-home order, we are mentally getting excited for the onset of summer. In celebration of the warm weather, The Folklore has compiled a playlist of songs to mark the joyous occasion.

Listening to some of these songs is enough to amp up your rhythm while dancing around the house or running during your daily jog. Watching the music videos as well, with their striking visuals, high in warmth and color is enough to put anyone in a better mood and imagine times where we'll all reunite with friends and families at cookouts, rooftops or beer gardens, sipping on nice cool drinks.

Oxlade's 'Away' provides bouncy Afro-pop beats with a catchy refrain that surely makes for an upcoming summer hit. An invigorating melody full of Afrobeats rhythm and romantic lyrics make Fireboy DML's new single, 'Vibration', a success, especially for future parties. A disco-inspired track from Chicago rapper Ric Wilson and Grammy-nominated producer Terrace Martin's new collaborative EP They Call Me Disco fines a place amongst these mid-tempo tracks.

The Puerto Rican indie-pop duo Buscabulla, rapper GoldLink, producer Kaytranada, 90s R&B duo Zhané, multihyphenated rapper Childish Gambino, and Amapiano star Samthing Soweto also make an appearance on the playlist. In total, these 8 lively songs will lift up your spirits and rev up your optimism about the future.
