Round Up – Best of South African Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2019
When it comes to fashion talent, South Africa has no shortage of innovative designers making a mark on not only the local market but the international market as well. This month, brands like The Folklore's very own MaXhosa, Nicholas Coutts, and Selfi debuted their Fall/Winter 2019 collections during South Africa's three premiere fashion events — African Fashion International (AFI) Fashion Week, South African Fashion Week, and South African Menswear Week. Between Cape Town and Johannesburg, dozens of South Africa's top fashion designers sent in-demand models like America's Next Top Model alum, Aminat Ayinde and The Folklore Fall/Winter 2018 campaign star Anyon Asola, down the runway in colorful knit dresses, woven jackets, and other fall apparel and accessories.
The three events brought out both local and international influencers, creatives, and models interested in seeing the newest trends and styles ahead of the upcoming cold-weather season. AFI Fashion Week, was particularly star-studded this year as it was held only days after the annual Condé Nast International Luxury Conference convened in Cape Town, which brought out international fashion elite including Vogue International editor Suzy Menkes, MaXhosa Creative Director Laduma Ngxokolo, and Lagos Fashion and Design Week founder, Omoyemi Akerele.
Before The Folklore officially welcomes these new Autumn/Winter 2019 collections to our website, we decided to put together a round up of the best looks that hit the runway during South Africa's three biggest fashion weeks.
