Sisiano Showcases Its SS22 Collection at Lagos Fashion Week

 

On the evening of Saturday 30 October, Nigerian contemporary brand Sisiano unveiled its spring/summer 2022 collection, which is titled “My Eyes Before Your Eyes”. From the very beginning, the presentation exhibited the founder and creative director Paolo Sisiano’s passion for dance and movement when dancers took to the runway in flowing, choir-inspired robes and tunics rendered in the faintest hues of white, yellow and pink. The dance performance created an immersive experience that transported viewers to the heaven-like world of Sisiano.

This element of motion and mobility – which Sisiano always weaves into his designs – were also present in the new collection, consisting of hand-painted and hand-dyed fabrics fashioned into wearable art for both men and women. Sheer tops, draped tunics and fringe details in vivid shades of pink and yellow are emblematic of an ethereal collection imbued with movement, elegance and sleekness.

Inspired by the design of traditional Nigerian attire, Sisiano sent out his own take on the “buba” and “sokoto” silhouettes, updated with flowing hemlines and daring harem-style shapes, respectively. Color was also a key touchpoint, with subtle neutrals and metallic jewels tones contrasted with bright orange and rich velvet textures.
