The Folklore's Songs of Summer 2019

 

With only a few more weeks left of summer, The Folklore team has been extremely busy preparing for the launch of our Fall/Winter 2019 collections and the introduction of a brand new roster of luxury African designer brands. Although we've been hard at work, we were never too busy to have fun and enjoy the pleasures of a New York City summer. While we were busy collecting memories, we also took time to curate a collection of songs that have served as the soundtrack of our summer and kept us dancing, laughing, and enjoying life. 

The collection of 15 songs that we gathered so far have been so special to the team that we decided to put them all together on a short playlist. The summer playlist features an assortment of Afrobeats, alternative R&B, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, Soul, and several sounds that defy genres. From start to finish, this playlist will make you forget about all your responsibilities and have you dancing from night to morning. Burna Boy's "Anybody" from his new album African Giant, will have you contemplating booking a last-minute flight to his home state Lagos to personally witness the bustling energy and beauty that he so vividly describes on the album. If that's not enough to get you hype, Chicago's very own Jamila Woods makes a case for holding your own bedroom dance party with her club track "BETTY" from her latest album LEGACY! LEGACY!

The Folklore's Songs of Summer 2019 playlist features tracks from groundbreaking artists like Larry Gaaga, GoldLink, Mereba, Ari Lennox, Santi, Jidenna and Tyler, The Creator, Chance the Rapper, and Steve Lacy. Jam out to these young rising stars and enjoy a musical journey through the cities of Lagos, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
