Tokyo James Unveils SS20 Collection at Lagos Fashion Week
This season’s woman gives “I have money, hence don’t talk to me,” said Tokyo James of his SS20 collection at Lagos Fashion Week. In the line, streetwear references shape the menswear, while lush fabrics and conceptual cuts paired with headscarves are reserved for women.
Collection highlights include a glittering bomber that can be worn in various ways, with the sleeves zipped on or off, as well as the timeless, understated chains the designer styled against his carefully tailored suits.
For this collection, Tokyo James collaborated with the sultry womenswear label TTYA London. The TTYA influence was overt as dresses in comfortable flowing cuts with romantic yet playful touches made their way down the runway.
Assorted pieces featured leather detailing and unassuming fetish-inspired leather belts on daily essentials like summer coats and suits. The show’s greatest asset was its bold color palette, which featured flame-like oranges and dreamy purple prints across otherwise casual separates.
